Page 1 Bernard has a diploma in Film and Video production (Pretoria 1986) and almost twenty five years in the industry. He rose through the ranks, gaining much of his experience from behind Camera. He has worked on Feature Films, Commercials, Corporate videos, Documentaries and Music Videos. He has worked all over Southern Africa, in Morocco, Tunisia, China and Toronto, Canada. In the last five years he has expanded his experience, producing and Directing Corporate Productions. Bernard founded CareerCrate in 2008

CareerCrate recently completed a project for the non-profit outreach organization the Canadian Geoscience Education Network, highlighting the careers of different Earth scientists across Canada targeting high school students. Despite a small budget with ambitious goals, Producer and Director Bernard van Speyk was able to create eight incredible videos that went beyond what we had hoped for. Not only did he travel all over the country to remote places with a well equipped team to capture quality sound and imagery, he got his feet wet (literally) to ensure he had all angles to work with back at the studio. CareerCrate had access to fantastic additional background music and photography (still and video) that enhanced the core material recorded in person, and went to great lengths to get special permission through contacts when more was needed. While being relatively unfamiliar with the subject matter in the beginning, CareerCrate embraced it enthusiastically and not only grasped the concepts behind the interviews, but contributed to them in ways that added depth and excitement to the final products. Being new to this process we were not ideal clients, but our project was in very capable hands with CareerCrate who worked patiently through our edits and special requests, and were very professional communicating openly throughout the entire process. We greatly enjoyed working with CareerCrate and hope to do so again in the future when new funding becomes available. We highly recommend CareerCrate to anyone looking to promote their career to the world in a dynamic and quality video.
